Appeal for Expansion of Vedanta Society of Greater Houston

It was in 2007 that we began work on our long-cherished dream: to build a new home for Vedanta, and to become an official branch the Ramakrishna Order, with a resident Swami.

By the grace of the Divine Mother and with the generous donation of time and money from many, the first wish came true in September 2011 when the new temple of the Vedanta Society was inaugurated, having been built without taking any loan. The second was fulfilled when the Headquarters of the Ramakrishna Order accepted our petition, and within five years of application (a record in the history of the Order) granted us affiliation.

Due to this wonderful progress, there has been a steady rise in the attendance of devotees; and we are anticipating further growth. Realizing the urgent need for additional space, an expansion project has been proposed. At first the idea was to build an addition onto the temple building, but after careful consideration it is thought best not to interfere with the integrity of the temple, but to build a separate building on our land, with a covered walkway to the temple.

The additional building will provide:

  1. A dining area for devotees

  2. Sunday School rooms for the children's classes

  3. A hall for the Homa ceremony

  4. A classroom for devotees

The design of the new building will be modular, so that future growth may be easily accommodated as funds become available.

So on behalf of the Vedanta Society of Greater Houston we humbly appeal to all of you to please donate generously, just as many of you did when the temple was coming up, so that our Vedanta work in Houston may grow into a spiritual center of which we can all be proud.

You can make your tax-deductible donation either through PayPal under our "Donation" tab; or mail a check to:
Vedanta Society of Greater Houston

14809 Lindita Dr,

Houston, TX 77083

Or you may bring your check to the center. Please do add "New Building Project" on the memo line of your check.

Thank you, and may you be blessed with Peace, Happiness & Inner Fulfilment.

Sincerely,

Swami Sarvadevananda and Swami Atmarupananda
